Colombian woman stuns world with Salma Hayek claim

Posted in : Gossips

(added 5 days ago)

A Colombian woman has revealed herself to be the aunt of Mexican actress Salma Hayek, in an interview with Univision TV show El Gordo y La Flaca. The news, which is likely to dominate international media outlets for the forseeable future, broke when Alicia Hayek de Borj announced, "I saw her and said, 'This is a niece of mine, how do I go to Mexico to see her?'"

Colombian woman stuns world with Salma Hayek claim

The announcement initially took Univision producers by surprise because, given the striking physical resemblance, they thought it was actually the actress being interviewed. However de Borj wasted no time setting the record straight, divulging that her father had emigrated to Colombia in the 1920s and spawned 20 children by different women. Of those children, one son emigrated to Mexico and went on to be Salma Hayek's grandfather.

"It is a family which grew up with one poor line and one of silver," said the impoverished de Borj. The show purportedly corroborated the blood line by 'comparing names on official documents,' amid de Borj's insistence that she does not want money - just a holiday to Mexico perhaps. In a similar turn of events, a tiny baby in Argentina has been revealed as Barack Obama's grandfather.

Get Salma Hayek's 'flawless' skin

Posted in : Gossips

(added 7 days ago)

Salma Hayek's make-up artist has revealed the tricks she uses to make the star's skin look "flawless". The Latin beauty is renowned for being one of the most gorgeous women in Hollywood and although she is a natural beauty, the actress still gets a little help. Beauty pro Kay Montano told Hello! magazine the simple steps she takes when applying Hayek's make-up.

Get Salma Hayek's 'flawless' skin

"To make Salma's skin look flawless and alive - and combat the effects of air travel - I apply peach-based foundations and concealers that are ideal for her Latin colouring," she revealed. "Salma has beautiful eyes. To get the classic matte-brown contoured eyes she likes, I combined a trio of Bobbi Brown Matte Eyeshadows in sable, mahogany and grey, using the grey as a neutral base on the lid and blended into the crease.

"I then applied the mid-brown shade to the lid, taking it into the socket, with the mahogany used deep in the socket and around the lash line underneath both eyes."And to give the Puss in Boots star her delectable pout, Montano only has to complete a few steps. "Salma's naturally gorgeous lips need only to be outlined with a neutral lip liner that matches her colouring," Montano said.

Salma Hayek: Hot or Not in Sexy Lace Dress at Prada 24 Hours Museum?

Posted in : Gossips

(added 10 days ago)

Actress Salma Hayek wore a low-cut sexy lace black dress to the Prada 24 Hours Museum at Palais d'Iena in Paris late Wednesday in celebration of the 2012 Paris Couture Week.

Salma Hayek: Hot or Not in Sexy Lace Dress at Prada 24 Hours Museum?

The 45-year-old wowed bystanders in the sexy wrap-around dress, which she accessorized with black pumps, a thick velvet choker, an even thicker black belt and an oversized silver-and-black shoulder bag.

While some find Hayek's look to be a bit too much, others think she shines in the black frock. The dress has gotten attention from fashion bloggers who find the awkward shoulder pads a bit jarring and the plunging neckline to be a bit daring. Nonetheless, the stunning actress never fails to be gorgeous and well put together.

Hayek attended the event with her husband, Francois-Henri Pinult, a French businessman, who wore a fashionable long black overcoat. Pinault is known to be a close friend of French President Nicolas Sarkozy.

Diane Kruger and Salma Hayek are front row at Giambattista Valli couture show in Paris

Diane Kruger and Salma Hayek are front row at Giambattista Valli couture show in ParisDiane Kruger and Salma Hayek, along with society maven and sister of the late Jackie Onassis, Lee Radziwill, made for an exclusive guest list at Giambattista Valli's couture show in Paris today. Held at the Hotel de Crillon, the spring/summer collection was only the second couture offering from the Italian designer. Mr Valli delivered a confident offering though, with lace flowers, layers of chiffon and rivers of light-reflecting, shimmery sequins on both ballgowns and knee-length cocktail dresses.

The designer used a palette of that was predominantly monochrome, set off by flashes of colour in shades of pinks from the softest blossom to deep fuschia and plums. While block colours dominated, Mr Valli also made way for blurs of floral prints and everything was softened with textures, such as polka-dotted chiffon or stiffened wool. Belted waists gave structure to billowing gowns, many of which featured over-sized ruffles and bows around the neckline. Mr Valli's wearable cocktail dresses came with romantic overlays of seductive lace as well as clustered of embroidered silk flowers and pretty belts.

Mr Valli was only recently admitted into the elite Chambre Syndicale de la Haute Couture. Last year, he made his couture debut as a 'guest label'. He joins an illustrious group of designers taking part in the biannual event, among them fellow Italians Valentino, Armani Prive and Atelier Versace, which returned for the first time in eight years. The only major French labels that are scheduled to show this year are Chanel, Dior, Jean Paul Gaultier and Givenchy, although several newer design houses are taking part.

The garments will be bought by a small and extremely selective (read, very wealthy) clientele based mainly in China, Russia, the Middle East, as well as North and South America. The one-off, hand-crafted creations can sell for $40,000 or to over $100,000 for a wedding dress. Anne Hathaway, Jessica Biel and Sarah Jessica Parker have all worn couture gowns by Mr Valli on the red carpet. And there is no doubt we will see plenty more as the awards season progresses.

Posted in : Gossips

(added 15 days ago)

We know Salma Hayek looks fab in black (her Golden Globes dress, anyone?), but what about her leather LBD at the Paris premiere of Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy? While we love a sleek, monochromatic look, we’re unsure if Salma took it too far by going head-to-toe in such a dark shade.

Salma Hayek’s Leather LBD: Yay or Nay?

What do you think? Play fashion critic and let your voice be heard in the poll! Although Salma kept her accessories to a minimal, she did keep hubby François-Henri Pinault by her side the entire night. Check out the couple’s night out in the gallery above!

Salma Hayek & Valentina: Rainy Day In Paris

Posted in : Gossips

(added 16 days ago)

Salma Hayek and her 4-year-old daughter Valentina were seen leaving Costes restaurant in Paris, France on Friday. The actress was dressed casually and wore a leather jacket, red sweater and jeans. It was only this past Sunday that the Puss In Boots star looked gorgeous in a Gucci gown at The Golden Globes.

Salma Hayek & Valentina Rainy Day In Paris

Hayek once shared how she and Valentina spend time together. She said, "Well, I am a crazy mother. I actually do dress up with her and we play cards. My daughter likes to play actress, which is not very convenient because sometimes I work the whole day and I just want to go home and be me.

"I did four movies this year, and I know I have to come home and be the gardener or, I have even been a chair or a table. She loves to play different roles and she sort of a director in it, because she tells you what your name is, what is it about - you should be doing this and that. We love to dance together, we love to make little houses. I love to draw with her and she loves to read."

Salma Hayek's Sexy Golden Globes Hairstyle: All the Details!

Posted in : Gossips

(added 18 days ago)

When Salma Hayek hit the red carpet at the 2012 Golden Globes on Sunday it was hard to pay attention to anything other than her dazzling black-and-gold Gucci Couture gown. But the Puss in Boots star’s incredible figure wasn’t the only asset on display Sunday night. The 45-year-old mom rocked one of her hottest hairstyles to date: full, shiny and oh-so-glamorous waves.

Salma Hayek's Sexy Golden Globes Hairstyle: All the Details!

"I was inspired by the dramatic design and shimmering black in her gown, and wanted to create a look that was reminiscent of Hollywood's film noir period, but very modern," Hayek's hairstylist and Moroccanoil Global Brand Ambassador Robert Vetica tells Us Weekly. After adding a bit of length with extensions, Vetica blow dried the hair with a round brush then wrapped two-inch sections around a small curling iron, making sure to twist them away from the face. "I kept the curls tight knowing the length would help it drop into a loose wave," he adds. To finish, Vetica brushed through the spirals, teased the roots, and misted with hairspray.

Golden Globes: Salma Hayek, Elle MacPherson, Jessica Biel Vie For Biggest Hair Award

Posted in : Gossips

(added 19 days ago)

While some actresses opted for elaborate updos (Charlize Theron, Angelina Jolie and Kate Beckinsale come to mind), several top fashion plates preferred to let it all hang loose, despite the forecast for a little rain at last night's Golden Globe Awards.

Golden Globes Salma Hayek, Elle MacPherson, Jessica Biel Vie For Biggest Hair Award

Salma Hayek wore her dark hair long, full and unencumbered atop her sparkled bodice Gucci gown. Supermodel Elle MacPherson -- who will host a new reality show, Fashion Star, on NBC -- clearly believes that bigger is better, poofing up her long beach-blonde tousled waves, perhaps to balance the size of her white Zac Posen gown's ruffled fishtail hem.

And Jessica Biel let her darker brunette locks flow free atop her high neck ivory lace Elie Saab dress that had a touch of Little House on Prairie feel to it. Not that that's a bad thing. Who do you think deserves the Big Hair Honors this year? And if we missed your fave -- like maybe Jessica Chastain or Connie Britton --  their names are on the ballot too.

A High Prize for Salma Hayek

Posted in : Gossips

(added 24 days ago)

A High Prize for Salma Hayek• Dame Salma Hayek? Sort of: France always rings in the new year by bestowing the Légion d'Honneur, the French equivalent of England's knighthood, on the worthy and accomplished, and in 2012, the 45-year-old Mexican actress joined the ranks of the National Order. Hayek is acclaimed for decades of silver-screen savoir faire; her range spans from Academy Award nominee for the titular role in Frida to romantic lead cat voice in Puss in Boots. Among those Hayek joins in the honor is her own father-in-law, the mogul François Pinault, who was promoted this year to the rank of Grand Officier. Pinault is the founder of the PPR luxury group, which owns brands Yves Saint Lauren and Gucci, as well as a little cottage on the Gironde that may be familiar to wine lovers—Château Latour. (Hayek's beau is François-Henri Pinault, the current CEO of PPR.) The family's other viniferous holdings include Domaine d’Eugenie in Burgundy and the Northern Rhône monopole Château-Grillet. Hayek, who will be laureled alongside politicians, historians, other actors, a judo champion, a rabbi and a jazz master, is not the first non-Frenchman to get the Légion: The Order has counted Julia Child, Thomas Keller, Robert Mondavi and Arnold Schwarzenegger among its distinguished members.

• The charming town of Sonoma had a prominent supporting role in this week’s episode of ABC’s The Bachelor. Sonoma winemaker Ben Flajnik of Envolve Winery is this season's lucky guy, and this week he took the rose-craving women to his hometown. Sharp-eyed wine-loving watchers had a chance to take in beautiful vineyard views and play "I spy" with the local wine country scenery. First, the Bachelor had a date with Kacie B., which began with a stroll through a disturbingly deserted-looking Sonoma town square (Unfiltered assumes that it was closed for filming, since we know it as a lively and fun spot). The pair had a romantic meal at one of our favorite restaurants, The Girl & The Fig (roses are nice, but Unfiltered will take their duck confit any day). Ben and Kacie also took in some home movies at the Sebastiani Theatre, and twirled a baton together (not a euphemism). Later, on a group date, the suitorettes were good-natured about performing a play, written and directed by local children, at a community theater. Ben's second one-on-one date, with Courtney, showcased the area's beloved redwood forests as the setting for a picnic. Through it all, the luxurious Fairmont Sonoma Mission Inn & Spa provided a wonderful backdrop for multiple make-out sessions and meltdowns. Speaking of meltdowns, there were plenty of tears at the rose ceremony, and blogger Jenna and single mom Shawn were sent home.

If you haven't seen the episode yet, Ben recommends sipping some Sonoma favorites while viewing to get in the mood, specifically, the Truett Hurst Burning Man Petite Sirah, Breggo Savoy Vineyard Pinot Noir and Gloria Ferrer Blanc de Noirs ("for the rose ceremony"). Ben tells Unfiltered he's also picked out which corks he'll pop while watching next Monday's episode: "Much to the chagrin of my [winery] partners Mike Benziger and Danny Fay, I've been on a crazy Chardonnay kick, so for Monday night I'm lining up a 2008 Chevalier-Montrachet, a 2007 Jean-Marc Brocard Domaine Sainte Claire Chablis, a crazy oaky 2010 Rombauer Chardonnay and our own 2010 Envolve Chardonnay."

• In a small-town British supermarket, a few bottles of wine disappear, a few blocks of cheese go missing. Then a few more slip out, right under the nose of the self-checkout scanner. On his fifth raid, the culprit is caught and unmasked, but no one could have guessed it would be none other than… celebrity chef Antony Worrall Thompson of Ready Steady Cook, Saturday Kitchen and I'm a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! (And he would've gotten away with it, too, if not for those meddling security cameras.) After his five-course steal, the crook cook received a police caution in lieu of prosecution. The crogue monsieur apologized for pilfering the low-value items, saying, "I am not the first, and I certainly won't be the last, person to do something without rhyme or reason—what went through my head, only time will tell. I am so sorry for all my recent stupid and irresponsible actions." Worrall Thompson also said he'd seek treatment for his role in spreading cheesecrime (a stint in briehab?). Let's hope he breaks the habit and avoids the fate of fellow trespasstronome, American sommelier Mark Lugo, who is being tried in New York for grand larceny following the Case of the Purloined Pétrus and Picasso.

• Walgreens, the nation's largest drugstore chain, has moved beyond the pharmacy and into the cellar. While the stores often sell alcohol in states that allow it, the 700-strong wine selection at the newly opened flagship location in Chicago boasts drinks of a different order altogether: Krug Grande Année, Antinori Tignanello, Penfolds Grange, Etude Pinot Noir, Taylor Fladgate 40 Year Old, Veuve Clicquot La Grande Dame and D'Arenberg The Dead Arm, among many others. To help get the wines flowing, Walgreens brought in WineChannelTV's Jess Altieri for a weekly "Wine Wednesday at Walgreens" segment. But to peruse the new store's wine section, shoppers have to find it first—perhaps no easy feat in a two-story, 27,000-square-foot space that also houses a gourmet food emporium, coffee bar, humidor, bakery, made-to-order smoothie stand and sushi restaurant. Your move, RiteAid.
